SAROJESH MUKERJEE was born into a family with old and deep roots in Calcutta, and brought up among four generations of the clan in his ancestral home, aged about one hundred and fifty years. Thus surrounded by history since a young age, his interest in it was increased manifold by the excellent professors, and in particular George Steckley and Gregory Pfitzer, of the History Department at Knox College, USA, during 1985–1989. He is the founder of The Cambridge School, Calcutta where he teaches Economics and occasionally History. He lives in Calcutta with his family including his dogs, Pongo, Bingo and Mojo.
